Devant le ban et l’arrière-ban du cinéma américain et international, les acteurs (dans le sens le plus large) du film ont remis leurs grands prix. En galerie photo, la montée sur le tapis rouge.
La plus grosse surprise fut le peu de statuettes remportées par le film chouchou « Brokeback Mountain ».
Finalement « Brokeback Mountain/Le secret de Brokeback Mountain » et « Crash/collision » sont à égalité avec 3 Oscars chacun.
Peu rancunier, Ang Lee a fait un court discours :
« Waou. Tout d’abord, je veux remercier deux personnes qui n’ont jamais exité. Ou plutôt qui n’existent que dans l’imagination d’Annie Proulx et grâce à l’art de Larry McMurtry et Diana Ossana. C’est Ennis et Jack. Ils nous ont appris, à tous ceux qui ont fait le film, tant de choses sur les gays ou les lesbiennes dont les amours sont rejetées par la société. Ils nous ont montrés le plus important, la grandeur de l’amour en lui-même. Merci, merci aux membres de l’Academy pour cet énorme honneur. A Focus Features, et en particulier David Linde, James Schamus, merci pour votre amour et votre soutien. AussiBill Pohlad, Tory Metzger, Ira Schreck, Joe Dapello, 1000 mercis, et tout particulièrement àDavid Lee. Ma femme aussi, Jane Lin, mes fils, Han and Mason. Je vous aime.
